"Venus-Sun Conjunction Enters Scorpio, Oct '22"

Acrylic. Collage. October 2022.
I tend to fall in love with the poetry of certain transits. One in October 2022 that was unusual was Venus entering Scorpio and the Sun following mere hours later. This was briefly after a cazimi, when a planet enters the heart of the Sun and finds itself renewed, in Venus' home sign Libra so Venus and the Sun were hanging out for a bit during that time. My astrologer and former astrology teacher Andrew B Watt described this transit in a way I found very evocative:
The ancient Babylonians saw Inanna as the goddess of love and war, and this Venus has far more of that warlike attitude, with the Sun as her immediate ally. Under normal circumstances, the Sun would be far more dominant over Venus, if only a few degrees separated them. Here, he’s the “golden retriever” lapdog boyfriend eagerly following where she leads, and obeying her every command: are they about have loud sex in the handicapped stall? Or is she going to ask him to bust your head over the $50 you owe her? Venus’s very words are a weapon here, and there’s no telling if you’re going to get a big, long-lasting hug — or a big knuckle sandwich and a black eye.

So I painted them!
Venus is considered in her detriment in Scorpio, meaning that she often has difficulty doing her best love/relationship type stuff here. According to Dr. Ali A. Olomi, Islamicate astrologers stated that natives with Venus in Scorpio would face unrequited love. Austin Coppock in The 36 Faces agrees about the third decan of Scorpio, which Venus administers, stating that natives need to find ways to transmute the life-defining agony that that unrequited love brings. I have a major placement in that decan and concur: welcome to my artful transmutation. I perform it via creating art and writing this blog.
Outside of that, Scorpio is the sign that rules the genitals and is known for the topics that brings. So it's always going to be interesting to consider the type of way the planet of Love, Connection, and Relating is going to express itself in that sign. Venus isn't powerless in the typical way we think of when she's in Scorpio and the other martial sign Aries so much as she's a little crazier, overextending and overexpressing herself rather than letting her target and/or fate guide the way.
Through Venus, there is almost a faith that comes with her being in Mars signs. There doesn't need to be a game plan, just an aim or an obsession. In this case with the Sun, it's nice to imagine that she's found the reciprocal love that Scorpio does not usually bring her.
